Notes: | From: Antiquities of Abbeys, Castles & c. & c. in Ireland, Vol. I Austin Cooper made some observations of this tomb in his diary for June 16th 1781 (page 23 of NLI Ms. Acc. 4841, Munster):'In this Abbey is an Old Tomb done in Free-Stone, the only one I have ever seen; the figure of a Monk (perhaps Clyn) carved in alto relievo thereon, but very much defaced.' John Hunt, author of "Medieval Irish Figure Sculpture", thinks it may have represented a woman. Title inscribed in ink l.c. on sheet under image Image in frame 7.3 x 18.4 cm. Watermark u.l. on sheet may be part of the name WHATMAN Drawn by Austin Cooper when he was touring the province of Munster in the summer of 1781 perhaps gathering money from area tax collectors, or working as a Paymaster to the Civil and Military Establishments Physical description: 1 drawing image 6.9 x 17.9 cm., on sheet 18.2 x 26.5 cm.
