Patrick O Neill's Collection of approximately 25 books and periodicals from the library of his house in Owning, Barony of Iverk, County Kilkenny, is an example of an Eighteenth Century Irish gentleman's Library. Patrick was an early collector of Irish music. He preceded the other collectors who recorded Irish tunes and melodies. He lived 1765-1832. His music manuscripts are at MS 44,806. There is a detailed description of his life and work in The Golden Vale of Ivowen: between Slievenamon and Suir by Eoghan Ó Néill at LO 14934.
