Summary:Postcard featuring an illustration of a young woman [Miss Eire - representing Ireland; the fabric of the skirt she wears has a shamrock pattern on it and she wears a shawl; she carries a basket]. She points to a large side of beef [on a wooden three-legged stool] that has the word 'Independence' written in large, bold font along the side of the shank. The figure of John Bull, stands in front of a shop front, where a Union Jack flag can be seen hanging through the window; the name of the shop is 'J. Bull, Butcher'. He is wearing a butcher's apron, with implements such as a knife and file in his belt and is shown looking agast at her, rubbing his chin with one hand while in the other hand [his arm outstretched] he offers to Miss Eire a present labelled [in bold] 'Home Rule', that is wrapped up with ribbon [and on the ribbon in four places is written 'Conscription']. The initials [of the artist] 'H. O N' is printed on the lower right hand corner of the postcard.
