| Notes: | From: Antiquities of Abbeys, Castles & c. & c. in Ireland, Vol. I Inscribed in pencil on facing page (verso of 2122 TX (1) 8) by the artist probably around 1875: Hore Abbey also called St. Mary's Abbey of the Rock of Cashel was situated near the Cathedral church Title inscribed in ink l.c. on sheet under image Watermark u.l. on sheet is probably JW Drawn by Austin Cooper perhaps when he was touring the country gathering money from area tax collectors, or a Paymaster to the Civil and Military Establishments. In a passage from his diary for May 19th, 1781 (NLI Ms. Acc. 4841 Cashel 1781 and also in Liam Price's book, pages 33-34) Cooper gives a long description of the Abbey, using various letters to indicate parts of the building which are repeated on the accompanying plan. A detail of the vaulting beneath the tower can be seen on the following page(2122 TX (1) 10) Physical description: 1 drawing image 10.3 x 16.6 cm., on sheet 18.1 x 26.5 cm.
