Summary: | On 2 May 1790, John Lanigan was appointed translator for the Royal Dublin Society - the minutes of the Proceedings of the RDS for that day state: 'Resolved: That the Rev. Mr. Lanagan [sic] be appointed to translate the Essays on Agriculture from the German, in the room of Mr Taafe.' He progressed to Assistant-Librarian in 1803 at a salary of £100 per annum, which was increased in 1808 to £150. He resigned his position in 1814, due to ill health. |
