A soldier is dying; when he is laid out for the wake in the corner of a basement room in a doss-house [a place offering cheap lodging] in Dublin, a debate takes place between four characters representing four Irelands - 'Nationalist and Past', 'Present and Disillusioned', 'Cringing and Parasitical' and 'Well-meaning but Defeated'. Amongst the cast was the actress and director Lelia Doolan in the role of Maise Riordan. Black and white illustration printed on verso of programme advertising C.I.E.
