Underneath this is pasted a label "Framed at The Dawson Gallery, 4 Dawson Street Dublin phone 76080. Order No. C4695-11". Exhibited: The Dublin Painters Annual Exhibition 1943, Cat. No. 30. The sitter Joseph Maunsel Hone was a writer and literary historian, who wrote several biographies including those of Archbishop Berkeley and W.B. Yeats. He was a president of the Irish Academy of Letters. |
