| Summary: | Website for Royal Ulster Rifles. "The Royal Ulster Rifles was a very unique regiment. It was the only British Army regiment to have both battalions fighting in Normandy at the same time. It was also the only regiment to arrive in Normandy on the 6th June 1944, both by air and by sea. It was not just men from Ulster who served in the ranks of regiment. There were also numerous Irishmen from neutral Ireland who either deserted from the Irish Army, and joined up in Belfast or decided to volunteer and join the fight against Nazi Germany."--Publisher |
