Summary:Leaflet issued by Women Prisoners' Defence League about the situation of prisoners in the British and Free State prisons and prison camps. First lines read: "Code makers class death as the supreme penalty. There is a thing worse than death - madness. That penalty the rulers of the Free State are inflicting on large numbers of their political opponents who will not forswear their allegiance to the Republic. Some 800 prisoners still remain in Tin Town, Hare Park, and Sligo jails, while over 300 are held by the Orange Government in the North". At foot of sheet: "30th April 1924. Maud Gonne MacBride, Hon.
