Summary:The Burton Street/Connolly Street Abbey was erected in 1763. The only remains of the abbey today are three walls. The fourth wall which ran parallel to the southern wall, was possibly demolished and the stones used to build an existing shed and the boundary wall. When the friars moved to their new friary in 1865, in High street, this abbey lay dormant. In 1978, an Irish family the Rooneys, who had been living in England, bought the house in Connolly Street and the abbey.
