Summary:The dual bridge layout is unusual, and probably is a reflection of the former importance of the town of Bruff, for centuries a staging town on the Old Cork Road. The inner parapets of the bridges are continuous and roughly rectangular in outline, thus enclosing the colourful and cosy Morning Star Park, pride of Bruff Tidy Towns. The name of the park derives from the river of the same name, the original old Gaelic of which was "an Chamhaoir", meaning daybreak. This river is a tributary of the Maigue. Nearby stands the Church of Ireland Church of St.Peter of Alexandria. About 60f x 20f, it has a slender octagonal spire after the old English style. It is said to be on the site of an early Christian church. The present structure was built by the Hartstonge family c.mid-18th century. It was deconsecrated in 1991.
