Summary:The railway was closed down in 1965. Assurances were given that all major trunk roads would be upgraded and by passes constructed to alleviate town traffic appeasement! 27 years on Strabane people applauded as the by-pass - or correction, half the by-pass was completed and opened. And the other half of the by-pass? Why! Strabane has been by-passed on that!
