A list of forest trees, fruit trees, shrubs, and evergreens, for sale, at the nursery garden of the Hibernian Hospital in the Phœnix Park, for the year 1781....As this garden is calculated by the Governors for the health and education of the children in said hospital, than for profit, it is hoped that no gnetleman or lady will be offended that it is ordered, that no article shall be delivered out of the garden until paid for. - All orders will be recived [sic, received] by Major Sirr or John Gahan at the nursery, or by Mr. Burrowes, on Arran-quay, who will forward them.

Summary:The Royal Hibernian Military School, Phoenix Park, Dublin, [located on the site of what is now site of St Mary’s Hospital] was originally known as the Hibernian Asylum, acting as a feeder school to the British Army. It was created by the Hibernian Society, a philanthropic organisation established following the Seven Years War. [The Society petitioned the King for a charter, which was granted]. The Society's aim was to assist the orphaned children of soldiers who died in the war, its' services later being extended to the destitute families of soldiers leaving Ireland for overseas service. The school closed in 1924.
