Summary: | Engravings of the following are: Fig. 1 is a specimen of script of a Cambridge manuscript; Fig. 2 is a specimen of a script of an Alexandrian manuscript; Fig. 4 shows the ground plan of the ancient castle of Shirburne, built by Roger, the Bishop of Salisbury; Figs. 5 & 6 show the carved busts of King John of England and Queen Isabella, which were at the time (1787) built into the White Horse Inn at the Court House or King John's Stables, Downton, Wiltshire, England; Fig. 7 is an inscription found on a a marble tombstone on the north side of the chancel of the parish church of Peckleton, Leicestershire, England; Fig. 8 is a coin showing Antonius Pius found in Chester Field in the parish of Sandy (probably Bedfordshire, England); Fig. 9 is a facsimile of a papermark taken from a sheet of paper made about 1630. |
