Notes: | Another copy of this drawing, in watercolour, by Gabriel Beranger (1730-1817), is preserved in the National Library of Ireland's collection. See Ms. TX 1958, page 66. There is another one, in circular form, in a private collection in Dublin From: Antiquities of Abbeys, Castles & c. & c. in Ireland, Vol. II Inscription, starting in pencil and continuing in ink (probably by Austin Damer Cooper (1831-1900)) on facing page: Slane abbey was founded in the 7th century by Canions of St. Austin - afterwards, burned and pillaged by the Danes ... Slane was the early residence and burial place of Slanius one of the Meath Kings ... A Cloictheach or round tower formerly existed here, and probably stood in the site of the present ecclesiastical ruins ... Title inscribed in ink l.c. on sheet Watermark u.l. on sheet is part of a shield with fleur-de-lys Physical description: 1 drawing diam. image 14.5 cm., on sheet 18.3 x 26.7 cm.
