Diaries of Alice Helen Brunton, also known as Elsie Henry, contain a vast number of newspaper cuttings about events that occurred during World War I. from beginning to end. Diary is interspersed with personal entries, photographs, journals, reports concerning Elsie’s efforts within the Sphagnum Moss Depot at the Royal College of Science for Ireland and correspondence with various relations and friends that were involved in the war. Diaries also document and provide insight into the political situation in Ireland such as the 1916 Rising to the meeting of the Free State Dáil.
