Notes: | Heaney's adaption of Sophocles' play 'Antigone', titled 'The Burial at Thebes', was commissioned by the Abbey Theatre as part of its centenary celebrations and first performed there on 31 March 2004. It was first published by Faber and Faber in 2004. Taken from a folder originally marked as 'Antigone/Burial' by Heaney. MS 49,493/248 pp 75-76 have been copied and the copies inserted into the file, as the original manuscritps contained private information. Department of Manuscripts, National Library of Ireland.
