Also included is related documentation, dating from August 2003 to March 2004, relating to Faber and Faber's preparations to publish the play, notably a draft of the cover artwork, sent for Heaney's approval and correspondence between Heaney and Faber staff, among them Charles Boyle.

Notes:Heaney's adaption of Sophocles' play 'Antigone', titled 'The Burial at Thebes', was commissioned by the Abbey Theatre as part of its centenary celebrations and first performed there on 31 March 2004. It was first published by Faber and Faber in 2004.

Taken from a folder originally marked as 'Antigone/Burial' by Heaney.

MS 49,493/248 pp 75-76 have been copied and the copies inserted into the file, as the original manuscritps contained private information.
