Fifteen years have elapsed since Aonach na Nodlag was first held in the Round Room of the Rotunda, and despite teh varying fortunes and many vicissitudes through which Ireland has passed, the annual Aonach has been successfully and successively maintained ever since (1920 excepted). The idea of Aonach na Nodlag as an exhibition an a market for the sale of Irish Christmas goods originated with a few workers in the old Sinn Fein movement, who set the project on foot; and even the most sanguine amongst them never anticipated the success which attended their efforts, and which gave them fresh hope and encouragement to carry on in the ensuing years...
