Notes:John Joseph O'Kelly, (1872-1957), [Seán Ua Ceallaigh, also known as ‘Sceilg’] was an Irish republican politician, author and publisher who served as President of the Gaelic League from 1919 to 1923 and as President of Sinn Féin from 1926 to 1931. He was elected a T.D. [Teachta Dála] from 1918 to 1921 and again from 1922 to 1923, serving as Leas-Cheann Comhairle of Dáil Éireann from 1919 to 1921 and as Minister for Education from 1921 to 1922 and Minister for Irish from 1920 to 1921. O’Kelly opposed the Anglo-Irish Treaty [ratified by the Dáil in January 1922] and he refused to accept the legitimacy of the Irish Free State that was established in December 1922.
