Summary:Engraved billhead, cropped from a larger sheet of a receipt and lacking the lower portion at left of sheet. Embossed with two pence paper stamp at right of sheet. John Bassegio served as wig dresser to King George IV and the Lord Lieutenant. Originally from Switzerland, he purchased the office of Sergeant of the Battleaxe Guard [equivalent of the Beefeaters at Tower of London] at Dublin Castle (this position was abolished in 1831).
