Summary: | Distressed broadside ballad sheet with the words of "Exile of Erin" and featuring a wooodcut at top of sheet of a fisherman with net carried over his shoulder, a rocky foreland in the right background and the sails of two ships visible in the distance on the sea in the left background. With references within ballad to famine - "I have no refuge from famine and danger...". First lines of " Exile of Erin" are: "There came to the beach a poor exile of Erin, / The dew on his thin robe was heavy and chill; / For his country he sig'd, when at twilight repairing ...". |
