Notes: | Woodcut vignette on title page above imprint. Head-piece; intiials; bibliographic citations; errata leaf. First book in the Irish language printed in roman type.--cf. Dict. nat. biog. On page 55 in some copies of the text, a portion of the Latin version is cancelled, revised text pasted over original: revision: 18. M. Valde celebris est Ant. Salue Regina, quae frequenter in Ecclesijs decantatur. Dic modo, quibus signis ostendit caelorum Imperatrix sibi acceptam esse deuotissimam hanc salutionem & orationem. D. Refertur in historia S. Dominici : cum Fratres incipissent Ant. Salue Regina ... Some copies of the text have a composite woodcut of stations of the cross: Simon of Cyrene carrying the cross; Jesus discovering sleeping disciples in the Garden of Gethsemane; soldier piercing Jesus' side during Crucifixion; Jesus stumbling under the weight of the cross. A floral border surrounds the woodcut, and a floral border is between the two rows of woodcuts with IHS in the center. Woodcut is on the verso of a leaf which has Approbationes for the Latino-Hibernica Catechismus, but they are dated 1638 rather than 1639. This leaf can be found after the text in the EEBO copy of the Bodleian copy. "Modus perutilis legendi linguam hibernicam": [2] p. at end. This volume has been closely cropped by the binder. It appears to have near contemporary binding but in a modern green case.
