Summary: | Postcard of a view of the Irish Language procession in Smithfield, Dublin on Sunday, 12 March, 1905 featuring a photographic image of the crowds attending with several holding flags. Standing at the centre of the podium, is Vincent O'Brien, [choir director of St Mary's Pro-Cathedral, Dublin from 1903 to 1946 and the founder in 1898 and first director of the Palestrina Choir] a baton in hand, conducting the choir. At top of postcard is "Do chum gloine de tonora na hÉireann". On verso the postcard is franked "James's Street Dublin 5.45 pm Mar [March] 27 05 [1905]" and is addressed in manuscript hand in black ink to a "Miss E. Callaghan / Kingswood / Clondalkin". |
