Bibliographic Details
Main Creator: Hyde, Douglas, 1860-1949
Format: Manuscript
Language:Irish

Notes:Manuscript in pencil and ink. 117 lines in the manuscripts have been crossed out - these represent significant footnotes dealing with the printing company of the Gaelic League and an important passage relating to Pearse's death at the hands of the British in 1916. There are also slight deviations from the published version in this manuscript. For example in the manuscript Hyde refers to Tim Healy as "President of the Free State after the War" but the published version corrects this to "Governor General". Hyde's critical reference to Daniel O'Connell and the Irish language was also amended.
