Summary:Hull seeks to interest Mrs. Hutton in publicising the work of the international committee which was trying to re-create the university library of Louvain, recently destroyed by the Germans. On the 25th August 1914 the German army sacked the city of Louvain (Leuven), killing many civilians. They expelled the population and burned the city’s university library, destroying 300,000 medieval books and manuscripts.

Eleanor Hull was a Celtic scholar and writer.
