Summary: | Black and white postcard [originally sold as part of a series entitled "An Cogadh Mór"] featuring the reproduction of a black and white photograph of . Text printed in French roughly translates as "[The] front of L'Oise: What remains of a calvary [a crucifixion] at the edge of a road", while the text printed in Irish on the front of the postcard roughly translates as "Cross at the mouth of a road of pollution (Oise)". Oise in Hauts-de-France was occupied from September 1914 to March 1917 and marked by battles in 1918. It was the first French department to be liberated, hosting the signing of the Armistice in the Compiègne Forest on 11 November 1918. |
