Eva von Gencsy (1924-2013) was a a dancer, choreographer and teacher born in Csongrád, Hungary who emigrated to Canada; Geneviève Salbaing (1922-2016) was a Canadian dancer [born in Paris], choreographer and director. Von Gencsy developed a new style of dance called ballet-jazz; she co-founded 'Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal' with Geneviève Salbaing and Eddy Toussaint in 1972 and became the company's first artistic director; however she left the company in 1978.
