Summary:Stanhope's volume, dated 1842 on the front end-papers, contains transcriptions of verse, prose and religious texts, including the writings of Hazlitt, Locke, Pope, Byron, Shakespeare, Disraeli, Milton and Wordsworth. Also included are extracts from contemporary journals. The last entry in the volume is dated March 1847.


Stanhope's volume, dated July 1846 and in use up to February 1856, contains pedigrees of the earls of Chesterfield, Harrington and Stanhope, further literary transcriptions, recipes, lists of 'Mr. H's' friends, attendees at dinner parties held in Baggot Street, Dublin throughout 1847-8 and those who were invited to her wedding and visited her following her marriage in April 1849.
