Summary:Alice O'Grady's affidavit gives details of the incident in which British soliders raided her house, stole valuables and arrested her husband in March 1920. She also gives information about some strange events some weeks before this involving a lodger she had, one Leo Dillon, and a strange visit he had by a man dressed as a cleric.
In collection: George O'Grady collection, 1919-1955
Format: Manuscript
Language:English
Subjects:
Notes:A typed affidavit 'Sworn by the said Alice O'Grady at Youghal this 20th day of September 1955 before me P.J. O'Gorman (Senator), a Commissioner for Oaths'. There are some typing errors, insertions and deletions in the document.

Alice O'Grady appears to have made this affidavit for the Bureau of Military History archive. The cleric referred to may have been an ex-Alexian brother, Finbarr Darcy, subsequently shot while trying to escape from British custody, although there is an anomaly in the dates as Finbarr Darcy was shot in January 1921.
