Leaves lightly browned due to paper stock, marginal waterstaining in places throughout, the other odd mark ; a good copy in the original decorated wrappers by Georgy Fitingof, waterstaining to edges, spine skilfullly repaired (no loss of text), old bookseller's marks to rear cover. First edition in Russian of Dubliners. It is Joyce's first appearance in book form in Russia, the only earlier translation being extracts from Ulysses in the periodical Novinki zapada in 1925. The translator is Elena Nechaeva (1885-1966), a former librarian and the wife of the intellectual writer, Georgy Fedotov, who had emigrated to France in 1925. Nechaeva followed him a year or so later (after the death of her mother), and they became active in the Parisian émigré community.
