Text on verso of card reads: "Scottish Widows' Fund Life Assurance Society / Mutual Life Assurance / The Whole Profits Belong To The Policyholders / Those who contemplate effecting a Life Policy should". Recto features illustration for the month of September of a woman who has gathered wheat, behind her stands a man holding a scythe; in the background are other harvesters on carts. Sunflowers are featured at the top of the card, while at the bottom two putti arrange a weighting scales. The illustration by Walter Crane is in the Arts and Crafts style.
