Title inscribed in black ink l.r. on sheet and underneath this signed "by J. Gawsworth" in blue ballpoint pen by John Gawsworth [pseudonym of British writer and poet Terence Ian Fytton Armstrong, (1912-1970)]. This drawing was present inside a copy of the Abbey Theatre programme for the Abbey Theatre Festival of Irish Drama, August 6th-20th, 1938. The first production of W. B. Yeats' drama 'Purgatory', a play in one act was performed on Wednesday August 10, 1938, the date present on this drawing. |
