German black letter text with two musical examples (pages 199 & 200). Preserved in uncut state in later antique style tan half morocco, marbled sides, spine gilt in compartments. Pencil annotations by Jacob Grimm to 12 leaves. Small library stamps "Graf Yorckschen Majoratsbibliothek" to foot and verso of title. Inscription to foot of title recording the purchase of the book at the sale of the library of Karl Lachmann in Berlin, 1851.

Translation of 'Fairy legends and traditions of the South of Ireland' which was first published in 1825. Grimm made a number of editorial comments to this copy, particulary to translations of original Irish verses cited by Croker.
