Another Tynan shot of the "Queen and Exiles" festival in Glenties, Co. Donegal but did we ever find out what that festival was all about? This shot shows a float or even a truck decorated with a theme based on the "Horse that didn't run". I love the young bucks walking along enjoying the craic!

D'Alton Sports was the Cardinal D'Alton Games at Glenties on the weekend of 4 & 5 July 1971, “run in conjunction with the Glenties Homecoming Festival”. (Donegal News, 10 July 1971). Glenties Homecoming Festival opened on Friday 2 July and ran until 11 July. Don't know about the Queens, but this explains Exiles. The “Idea of the Homecoming Festival is to encourage emigrants from Glenties who are overseas to return home and take part in the festival activities in their home town during this week”. (Donegal Democrat, 2 July 1971)
