Lady Pakenham is responding to a letter from Anthony the previous December. She mainly discusses matters in Argentina.
The letter is written on the headed paper of the British Legation, Stockholm. Although no year is written on the letter, Caroline's husband Sir Francis John Pakenham was ambassador to Sweden between 1896 and 1902.
Sir Francis John Pakenham was the fourth son of the second Earl of Longford, and worked in the diplomatic service. Between 1896 and 1902 he served as ambassador in Sweden. Prior to that he held several different positions in various South American countries, including Argentina.
