Summary: | The General Advertiser of 4th July 1840 recorded that William Maffett was taking his son William Hamilton Maffett into partnership in his Land Agency business at 24 Sth. Frederick Street. Saunders's Newsletter, on 3rd November 1841, noted that William Hamilton Maffett was called to the bar; and on 24th May 1849 there was a notice of the marriage (his second) of William Hamilton Maffett to Marcella Adelaide Bayly. There is also an Irish Times and Daily Advertiser from 15th September 1860 on which is noted in pencil 'I find nothing of family interest in this'; there are other notes in pen. |

Notes: | The family notices are marked and the events are noted in pen at the top of the first page of each newspaper. William Maffett was from Co. Down, but settled in Dublin and became a land agent. By his first marriage he had three children who survived infancy, one of whom was the William Hamilton Maffett mentioned in the newspaper notices. He had eight children with his second wife. His son William Hamilton Maffett was also married twice; he and Marcella Adelaide had thirteen children. Physical description: 4 items. more |
