Summary: | A review, entitled "Exhibition of religious paintings at Ritchie Hendriks Gallery", which is critical of Thomas Ryan's work. The piece is signed J.W. A two page letter by Thomas Ryan criticising the Arts Council for failing in its aim of building a flourishing School of Irish Art, and providing reasons for this, one of which is that no practising painter or sculptor has ever sat on the council. Circa 1962. A list of members of Dublin City Council, typed on green paper. Numbers against some of the names, and slight amendments are written in pen. It is dated 10th January 1962. On the back are eleven additional handwritten names and addresses. These include Sean Keating, Harry Kernoff, Norah McGuinness and other people involved in the arts. At the end is written "30 copies". It may be a list of people for receipt of the letter mentioned above. |
