The Irish concert songster.

Bibliographic Details
Summary:Collection of patriotic and popular songs of their time, compiled for Nugent & co., by Denis Devereux in both English and Irish, the texts of which are printed on the inside and back pages. Last paragraph reads: "The ballad singers' lays, though often uncouth and halting, are still the product of the land, true to its feelings and faithful to its accents. Their grammar is not often the best, nor their diction the most elegant, but their lays have kept alive memories that otherwise must have perished, and their services to the cause of Nationality can justify us in overlooking much of the absurdities of their work. They are still with us, and ought not to be disregarded" - William Rooney.
