Notes: | Formerly at call number 1697TC. Supplement Gratis with "United Ireland". Saturday, April 19th, 1890. As a result of the Plan of Campaign the shopkeepers of Tipperary withheld their rents from the local landlord A. H. Barry, and decided to build a new town for themselves called New Tipperary. They commissioned a Dublin builder to construct a street of houses and a street of shops and a market area. When funds ran out the shopkeepers were forced to move back to their original premises in Tipperary and the land lord levelled the new town.
