Célestin Lagache was Stenographer of the Official Journal during the Monarchie de Juillet [July Monarchy], he was elected as a representative of the Oise in 1848. Defeated in 1849, he took over the functions of rédacteur-sténographe [editor-reporter] in the Senate, where he retired (1874) as the head of the Department. He returned as Senator of the Oise (1879-1888) serving on the center-left.
