Notes: | Typescript (typed by Sean Browne in August 1922) note on verso of frame in which the statement was housed reads 'A sealed envelope was handed to James Montgomery by President Arthur Griffith, on the eve of the Sligo Meeting to be opened ''in case of anything happening''. On the President's safe return, James Montgomery handed him the envelope, but he returned it saying; ''Keep it, something might happen soon''. The envelope was opened in Government Buildings, Merrion St., (College of Science.) when Arthur Griffith died, in the presence of Dr. Oliver St. John Gogarty, Sean Milroy T.D., Sean Browne and James Montgomery, and the document herewith was disclosed.'
