The Irishman 'Pat', is held by the wrist by a rather portly policeman; he says to him as he does so "If ye do a thing to me, I'll tell Uncle Sam!. In June 1919, De Valera travelled to the U.S. to seek financial and political support for an independent Ireland; some months later on 12 September 1919 the Dáil was outlawed by the British. |
