Summary:Article from 'The [London] Times' on the gold regions of British Columbia [Canada], including a map showing the fastest routes from England to British Columbia offered by the Liverpool, New York and Philadephia Steam-ship Company along with an advertisement for the Steam-ship Company. Advertisement reads: "The Liverpool, New York and Philadephia Steam-ship Company, whose steamers sail from Queenstown [Cobh, Co. Cork] to New York every Thursday have now made arrangements with the United States Mail LIne of steamers sailing weekly from New York by which passengers can be booked through to Victoria, Vancouver's Island, more cheaply and expeditiously than by any other route'. Rates of passage from Queenstown to Victoria, Vancouver Island: - cabin: £66 land [sic] upward, steerage: £31 10s, and upward. These rates include provisions on board the steamers. Fifty pounds baggage allowed free by the steamers from New York to San Francisco. "For further information apply to William Inman, 62 & 63 Tower Buildings South, 22 Water Street, Liverpool or to Michael Lacy, Longford."
