Summary:Election and anti-conscription leaflet seeking support for Arthur Griffith, the Sinn Féin candidate in the East Cavan by-election (held on 20 June 1918). The election was caused by the death of the sitting member Samuel Young [of the Irish Parliamentary Party]. John F. O'Hanlon, a member of Cavan Urban District Council, was nominated as candidate of the Irish Parliamentary Party. Text continues: 'John O'Hanlon stands for the English Empire...a vote for O'Hanlon is a vote for conscription...A vote for Arthur Griffith is a vote against conscription.' At foot of leaflet: 'Printed by J. Mathews, "Examiner" Office, Dundalk, and published by Arthur Griffith, a candidate for East Cavan.'
