Summary:Commemorative calendar making the 100th anniversary of the 1798 rebellion. Separate page for each month, with a list of important events that occurred during the 1798 rebellion on each day. The title page depicts a setting sun with "1898" on a sun and "1798" reflected in the water. It also shows a round tower and a ruined church on the right hand side. On the left hand side is an illustration of the American flag, a flag with a harp on it and various weapons surrounding these. On the right hand side of each page is a quote in connection with rebellion and the United Irishmen. The quote for January reads: "'Then let us remember our madness no more, what we lost by dissension let union restore; let us firmly unite, and our covenant be, together to fall or together be free.' - [Wolfe] Tone's poem "Ierne United." On the left hand side of each page is a portrait and short biography of famous members of the United Irishmen - these include Robert Emmet, Wolfe Tone, John Sheares and Lord Edward Fitzgerald. Last four pages contain advertisements, a note on the illustrations, an article about Lucien Bonaparte and the text of John Sheares Manifesto. At top of each month is an illustration of events connected to the Rebellion such as the French landing at Killala, an image of Wolfe Tone's grave in Bodenstown Co. Kildare and Vinegar Hill in 1798. The footer on each page has "Toast of the United Irishmen" with a different toast for each month for example the toast for July reads: "May the moment we relinquish our liberties be the last of our lives".
