| Notes: | Originated with Robert Dodsley, at the suggestion of Edmund Burke, who was for some years editor and principal contributor. Some time after 1791, the copyright and stock were purchased by Otridge and other booksellers. Messrs. Rivington published a rival continuation, which lasted from 1791 to 1812, and again from 1820 to 1824, when the two united to form one publication. Cf. Lowndes. Bibliographer's manual, v. 1. The publishers were: 1758-62, R. and J. Dodsley, 1763-90, J. Dodsley, 1791-2, Rivington; 1793-1813, W. Otridge, etc.; 1814-36, Baldwin, Cradock, and Joy; 1837-62, Rivington. A few years are 2nd ed. Another set: The publisher of this set were: 1758-63, R. & J. Dodsley; 1764-1790, J. Dodsley; 1791-1800, Rivington : New Series, 1801-10, Rivington; without New Ser. on tp., 1811-12, Rivington; 1813, W. Issue for 1758 reprinted in 2009 with a new introduction in celebration of the Annual register's 250th year of publication, published by ProQuest CSA Journal Division, Bethesda, MD.
