Contributors: Froissart, Jean, 1338?-1410? Chroniques.
Format: Book
Language:French
Published / Created: Imprimez a paris : pour Anthoine verard ... a petit pont ..., [between 25 Oct. 1499 and July 1503]
Notes:In eights and with double columns. In vol. I the leaves are marked 1-302 (sheet f has 10 leaves, numbered 41, 42, 43, 44, 44, 45, 45, 46, 47, 48), in vol. II the last leaf is wrongly marked 201, and in vol. III the leaves are marked 133-260. Fol. 164 of vol. I is blank. There is only one printed illustration, viz. a large woodcut at vol. I, f. 163 verso.

Two sizes of type are used in this edition: a full page printed from the smaller size contains 47 lines, and one printed from the larger, 44 lines. With the former are printed vol. I, ff. 1-32, 49-162, 165-304, and vol. III, ff. 133-164, 167, 168; with the latter, the preliminary leaves of all the volumes, vol. I, ff. 33-48, 163, the whole of vol. II, and vol III, ff. 165, 166, 169-260. The two founts are easily distinguished by the forms of some of the capitals, especially C, E, and R. The fact that vol. III commences with f. 133 renders it probable that Verard had published an edition of vol. II with the 47-line type, which had 132 leaves; but no such edition is now known to exist. The same two founts of type are used together by Verard in his edition of Merlin.
