A section of the strata forming the surface vicinity of Matlock-Bath, in Derbyshire, :
taken in a line from Bonsal by Masson Lowe, and Matlock High-Tor to beyond Ashover, with a view of correcting Mr. Farey's section of the strata in the same district, (published in his General view of the agriculture and minerals of Derbyshire,) in which are pointed out some errors that Mr. Farey has committed, and of confuting his theory of the mountains of Derbyshire being raised "by a violent action from above." also demonstrating by the nature of the strata and comparative analogy of specimens, that these mountains were occasioned by subterranean fire. /
