Summary:Sandyford Industrial Estate was officially opened on 3rd June, 1977 by Senator John Boland. It is built on 200 acres of land acquired from Col. Hume Dudgeon and Lady Eileen Galvin by Dublin County Coucil. 150 acres was allocated for industrial purposes and the rest to roads, etc. Sites were sold on long leases of 250 years. The County Council and now Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Co. Council remain as Landowners and retain an interest in the estate. There are four categorie of sites - owner-occupiers, advance units, offices and rental warehousing. There are 220 companies involved and they employ about 6,000 people.
